Petaluma Charities

Petaluma is a compassionate city with a big heart for its community. There are plenty of non-profits and charitable organizations in town that focus on bettering the community in various ways.

Here are a few of our favorite.

Committee on the Shelterless
900 Hopper Street
Petaluma, CA 94952

Committee on the Shelterless, or COTS, is a great non-profit organization that helps thousands of people in the community who need a roof over their head. The organization provides the homeless community a place to sleep, as well as food and the support necessary for moving into a stable home. COTS also works to prevent homelessness by helping people keep the homes they already have.

Lily’s Legacy Senior Dog Sanctuary
PO Box 751002
Petaluma, CA 94975

Lily’s is a non-profit organization in town that provides safe and loving homes specifically for senior large breed dogs who have been displaced or abandoned from their homes. Lily’s provides these dogs with a safe home until they are adopted. The sanctuary offers an alternative to putting these dogs to sleep and focuses on placing the dogs into loving forever homes.

Petaluma Wildlife  & Natural Science Museum
201 Fair Street
Petaluma, CA 94952

The Petaluma Wildlife and Natural Science Museum was founded in 1989 with a mission to teach kids about environmental education, wildlife biology, public speaking, and museum operations. Throughout the school year, students are responsible for care of the animals, maintenance of the museum, program development, and conducting the museum tours. The museum has thousands of visitors each year, allowing high school students to practice leading tours and educating the public about animals. The museum is a non-profit organization and is always accepting high school volunteers and public donations.
